Video
My digital video represents my digital self as I created a collage of clips of my trip to Hawaii. I revised the video by making the video less abrupt at the end and adding captions along the way to explain what I was doing. I love traveling with my friends and this video provides a good look at the fun we have when we get to escape from school and work. I was able to create this video using iMovie. I was then able to upload the video onto Youtube. I made sure to insert clips where I show my face in the video and I tried my best to use all the footage I had to make the video chronological from our first day to our last day in Hawaii.
Digital Image
The image above features a collage of myself in a few of my favorite places. I revised it by using higher quality images and centering the images. From visiting family in Arkansas to traveling to Hawaii with some of my closest friends, I’ve enjoyed seeing new beautiful places. Traveling with the people I love is one of my favorite hobbies. I hope to see Europe and one day shop with my mom in Paris, a place she has always wanted to go. My image is an example of structural modularity as I used photoshop express to edit and compile my project. It’s also an example of variability as I was able to save the file in a jpg file format.
Infographic
This infographic is unique to myself because it features the routine I’ve developed that has helped lower my stress as I’m able to unwind a couple of times a week to take care of myself. I revised my infographic by making the title larger and aligning the text with the images. My infographic features balance, as symmetry is reflected in the rectangular designs. Contrast is also shown in the color scheme I decided on, which makes my infographic appealing to the eye.
Essay
My digital self is creative and fun. My digital assignments show this in various ways. My video shows how I love to enjoy myself by traveling with my friends. My digital image also shows how I love to travel, as I’m featured in many different places. My infographic shows my creativity as I show my secret to self-care through images.
This class has definitely helped me have a better understanding of digital media and principles of design. Through the digital assignments I learned how to change formats of my work to suit my audience. I learned that by changing the design of my work I can make it more suitable to the eye and to the mind.
I resonated with principles of design the most. I found it interesting how the aspects of balance and contrast can really transform a design. I saw this especially when I revised my work. I saw a transformation when I used the principles to my advantage and made my work better overall.
This was one of my favorite classes because I got to apply my creativity to the digital assignments. Through the video and image assignment I was able to use images I had to create my work. With the infographic, I used information about myself and nice images to create something useful. While some were more difficult than others, my overall experience was great because I was able to express myself.
The digital tools and applications I used were Canva, Photoshop Express and Imovie. I chose Canva because the professor recommended it. After becoming familiar with the program I felt confident in my creations. I used Photoshop Express to create my digital image. I chose it because I was able to choose from a wide range of collage frames to find one that would work for the photos I had. I used iMovie to create my digital video because I was already familiar with it. I was able to use that to my advantage to create an awesome video.
I faced a few challenges in creating my digital assignments. Becoming familiar with the programs was probably my biggest challenge. I found it frustrating a couple of times to use some of the tools the applications had to offer. However when I used the help resources I was able to figure out how to use those tools to my advantage.
Throughout the process of creating my digital assignments I definitely found some enjoyable moments. While creating the infographic, I liked that I was able to create something useful that I could share with my friends and family. Overall I enjoyed the fact that I could take simple information and some old photos to create something cool and useful that represented me.
