Recently, with the assignments I’ve completed, I’ve become more familiar with Canva and I’ve been able to utilize it to make my work look better. I’m thankful that I’ve become more advanced with the app because I’ve been able to use the app for other classes such as JMS 310W where I created an advertisement.

Creating my infographic design was probably my favorite assignment in this course, so far. I enjoyed being able to apply my digital media skills to something that represented me. I enjoyed picking the topic of my infographic and I enjoyed being able to create something that provides information that can be useful to others.

This infographic is unique to myself because it features the routine I’ve developed that has helped lower my stress as I’m able to unwind a couple of times a week to take care of myself. My infographic features balance, as symmetry is reflected in the rectangular designs. Contrast is also shown in the color scheme I decided on, which makes my infographic appealing to the eye.

My digital video represents my digital self as I created a collage of clips of my trip to Hawaii. I love traveling with my friends and this video provides a good look at the fun we have when we get to escape from school and work. I was able to create this video using iMovie. I was then able to upload the video onto Youtube. I made sure to insert clips where I show my face in the video and I tried my best to use all the footage I had to make the video chronological from our first day to our last day in Hawaii.

I attended the webinar on how public relations can push back on disinformation. The panelists discussed a few major points. They emphasized that telling the truth within the first 24 hours of the disinformation being spread is important. Establishing credibility is another important factor to making sure your words are valid to the public. Lastly, making sure everyone has the same information will keep disinformation from being believable.

I agreed with everything the panelists stated. One of the panelists, Chloe Moreno stated professionals must “illuminate with the truth.” I resonate with this statement. If the truth is brought to light as soon as possible, disinformation will be slowed and misinformation will not be able to develop.

The image below features a collage of myself and a few of my favorite places. From visiting family in Arkansas to traveling to Hawaii with some of my closest friends, I’ve enjoyed seeing new beautiful places. Traveling with the people I love is one of my favorite hobbies. I hope to see Europe and one day shop with my mom in Paris, a place she has always wanted to go. My image is an example of structural modularity as I used photoshop express to edit and compile my project. It’s also an example of variability as I was able to save the file in a jpg file format.

Throughout the semester I’ve enjoyed learning many new things. For example, I liked learning about how different colors, fonts, etc can really impact visual communication. I find it interesting how the presentation and design needs to be adjusted to ensure effective content. More recently, I’ve enjoyed learning about all the aspects that contribute to quality audio.

Overall, I have been enjoying the class. I noticed that I’m able to learn best through the recorded lectures. Listening to the professor give examples and provide elaboration on the slides allow me to clearly understand the content that we’re learning.

Hello, my name is Evelyn Martinez and I’m very happy to be in this class. As stated in the few lectures I’ve watched, digital media is important and applicable to journalism, PR, etc. It’s for this reason that I want to learn more about digital media throughout this course.

One of the things I’m most excited to learn about this semester is how to prepare and edit content for certain platforms. Another important aspect I hope to gain an understanding of is the ability to apply the concepts of digital media into everyday personal and professional practice. If I’m able to gain an understanding of these points, I’m sure I will feel better prepared in my field of study.
